Each month artists compete for one of twelve slots on our home page. EraGallery advertises each show to tens-of-thousands of art galleries, collectors, and art lovers; people on the lookout for new talent, people who buy art.

Lightbox is more than just a contest.

It's unique jurying system introduces you into a supportive community of fellow artists. Unlike other art competitions, our curation process provides realtime feedback and professional connections.

As your work earns Points, you're told in realtime who appreciates your art, which pieces they like, and why. Lightbox expands your artistic network while helping you to progress and grow as an artist.

For artists that don't win, the Exposure search engine provides a second platform to sell artwork.

All artwork submitted to Lightbox appears in EraGallery's Exposure, the fastest growing contemporary art search engine on the web. Exposure uses the curation tags Lightbox collects to associate artworks together based on their content and style. Patrons are introduced to new art based on their established preferences, leading to more sales.

Awards automatically qualify you for special exhibitions in the main gallery.

As your artwork acquire points in Lightbox, it also accumulates Tags. You earn Awards when you receive enough Tags of the same type. Tags and Awards roll over from show-to-show so that you can fill up your trophy room. Awards are displayed on your profile and qualify you for special exhibitions. Even artists that aren't selected for the current show can be selected for a special exhibition based on their Awards.

Curation Points
</h1>

During the curation period, participants receive Curation Points (or Points) for other EraGallery users. 
The artists that receive the highest number of <i>valid</i> Points win the contest. 
<br><br>
Points are awarded in Sessions, with five Points in each session. 
Each Point a curator awards has to go to a different artist, and all five Points must be awarded to count. 
This policy keeps the vote fair, as a curator cannot promote one artist without promoting at least four others. 
<br><br>
Artists are encouraged to participate in the curation process, and invite friends and family to do so as well. 
Participating artists may not award Points to themselves, 
however EraGallery awards their submission bonus Points when they help with the curation process. 
The number of bonus Points awarded by EraGallery is greater than the number of points the participant assignes to others, 
so it's always in the best interest of an artist to also curate.

Valid vs. Invalid Points
</h1>

At the end of the curation period, our referee determines the number of valid Points each artist received, 
awards bonus Points to artists who participated in the curation process, then chooses the winners.
<br><br>
Points can be invalidated for two reasons:
<br><br>
1. The curator awarding the Points didn't complete a Session by awarding all five Points.<br>
2. The curator has been flagged by our security system.
<br><br>
Both valid and invalid Points are shown in the artist's "Show Entries" page. 
Neither the artist or the curator are notified that the Points were invalidated. 
Tags attached to invalid Points are not invalidated.

Tags and Awards
</h1>

When curators award Points, they can attach Tags to the Point describing why they awarded it. 
Tags roll over from show-to-show and are used by the Exposure search engine to make content-aware "play-lists" of similar artworks. 
Tags also count toward EraGallery Awards. 
Awards are used by EraGallery to create special themed exhibitions that appear on the main page from time to time.
They are also displayed on the artist's Profile in the Award Gallery.
Awards "level-up" over time, artists with higher level awards are more likely to be invited to participate in special exhibitions.
